This is Antoine Louis "Tone" LaDeaux:
Antoine was 32 years old when police pursued him on Highway 27 in Gordon, Nebraska, on October 2rd, 2016. He was allegedly drunk and driving erratically at the time. Police deployed a controversial chase-ending maneuver known as "Tactical Vehicle Intervention" which involves a police cruiser colliding with the speeding vehicle in the hopes it will put the vehicle into a safe spin-off. Antoine was killed during the maneuver.
5 State Patrol officers were involved in the matter and all of them were fired. 20-year veteran Officer Tim Flick was considered primarily responsible and was later charged with lying under oath during a deposition, careless driving, and automobile homicide. Flick initially stated in deposition that they used Tactical Vehicle Intervention but later changed his story to say they were unable to deploy the maneuver before Antoine crashed. The charges against Flick were dropped in 2018. May Antoine's memory be a blessing.

Disclaimer: Justice for Native People documents instances of police violence as the rates of death in these interactions exceeds those of any other community. Indigenous women are 38 times more likely to die at the hands of police than white women, and Indigenous men are 14 times more likely. JFNP documents these instances to understand the circumstances surrounding them in the hopes that policing procedures can be evaluated and future interactions can be improved.

It was never right to use that type of maneuver on any vehicle going that speed. Spike sticks would of been the best way to stop this chase. Now the family has to live without Mr. LaDeaux in their lives.
